Abstract

The British Rave Flyers Collection is a collection of 746 flyers and postcards from British raves and nightclubs from the 1990s. This collection contains flyers from a wide range of venues throughout the United Kingdom, as well as a few venues in Scotland, the United States, France, Spain, and Germany. Wilhelm Deffke Papers, 1927-1949

Abstract

This small archive of Wilhelm Deffke materials consists of manuscripts on Deffke’s life and work, correspondence, and printed ephemera. Manuscript materials include an autobiographical account of his life and career, and notes and schematic drawings for his project, “Grammatik der Formensprache,” (1945). Correspondence is between Deffke and some associates including Carl Ernst Hinkefuss. Examples of printed ephemera and newspaper clippings with examples of his graphic work are included.

Photographs of Gay Life in Communist Czechoslovakia, 1939-1979

Abstract

This collection contains 267 photographs depicting the life of a group of gay men in Czechoslovakia from 1939 to 1979, where same-sex sexual activity was decriminalized in 1962. Photographs show the men either clothed, in various stages of undress, or completely nude. Images are taken at the beach, on vacation, indoors, and exploring unidentified places.

Abstract This collection consists of publishing prospectuses issued between 1920 and 1940 by German publishers and booksellers, though the bulk of them are most likely from 1930 to 1938. The firms are predominantly from Berlin, Leipzig, Munich and Vienna, and although there are only one or two examples from most firms, a few are represented by several prospectuses. Abstract The Stjopka collages include 301 paper collages from an artist known only as Stjopka (1956-). Presumably a pseudonym, very little is known about the artist. Based on birthdate, Stjopka would have created the work in this collection starting at approximately eleven years old. The collages are composed of colored paper and decorative found elements.
